Why Mentors Matter
Kids can't aspire to what they've never seen up close
A guest speaker is a moment. A mentor is a model — proof that someone who looks like them, or started where they started, built a career in finance, business, or entrepreneurship.
Most students in our partner schools have never had a sustained relationship with a finance or business professional. Mentors change that — not through a single visit, but through consistent, weekly presence over a full 10-week program.
Show Up Weekly
Commit to 1 to 3+ classroom visits during the 10-week program, rotating with other mentors.
Here's What's Actually Happening
Right now, a lot of our students in California are falling through the cracks:
Math is a roadblock: Over 62% of students are having a hard time with basic math. Without those skills, figuring out budgeting, saving, and building real financial independence is incredibly tough.
Reading is slipping: Just over half of our students are missing basic reading benchmarks. If you can’t confidently read and understand the fine print, navigating loans, jobs, and real-world financial decisions is an uphill battle.

It’s hard for a kid to dream about a career they don’t even know exists. That’s why your mentorship is so important.
